After the Grand Opening of Perfecto on Labor Day weekend, I thought week 2 would be slow. (Anyone that has been to Las Vegas on Labor Day weekend knows how crazy it can get out here and usually after Labor Day this place is a ghost town.) This week was surprisingly busy, probably from all the buzz created by the Grand opening last weekend. The event became sort of a monumental night. The opening DJ was Doc Martin who is known throughout the U.S as one of the original pioneers of the deep house movement. Doc Martin has played many festivals throughout the world and it was a night that featured the legend of trance and the legend of house. I showed up to the venue and the place was packed, and a lot easier to get in. This time an outside bar area by the pool was opened and was a great place to get some air when you got to hot. Last week inside Rain, flying through space was the theme. This week they went with an earth/ planet theme. It reminded me of flight of the navigator. Doc Martin was set in an earthy, red horizon type of scene. The music was deep grooving and the characters were even more interactive. Some characters would pass by and open a case they were holding and inside were glowsticks. They were handing them out to different people, scouring the lines, and sneaking up on people. It was fun to watch the interactions. Doc Martin kept everyone dancing until Paul Oakenfold came on. When he did, the music became more uplifting and the night was just as epic and transducing as the first week. Many locals were there which made for a friendlier and warmer vibe. The outside area was filled with people, the music bumping loud enough to create a dance floor, but low enough to allow people to socialize. I could over hear buzzing conversations about the up coming show on the 13th when Sandra Collins was scheduled to play, showing that the local scene was already prepared to make Perfecto rain a weekly routine. I must admit that I also can’t wait for next week to come around myself!
